Baobab and our Tyre Protection Chains
Baobab was established in 2019 after identifying the need for creating local employment opportunities while still supplying our clients with durable Tyre Protection Chains. We specialise in the manufacturing and assembling of originally designed and patented Protection Chains for Tyres operating within the earthmoving and mining industries.
Our chains are manufactured in South Africa and are a product of both African and German knowledge and experience that has been built up over the years of successful collaboration. Baobab’s locally manufactured chains are influenced by German Chain quality standards in regard to optimum mid-ring fusion welding, optimal wear link design with a touch of African Chain heritage.

Baobab Facilities
The Baobab facility is based in Gauteng and house fests three primary workshops, each dedicated to different steps of the Chain manufacturing process. Our main workshop facilitates for the ring bending and material cleaning operations. The second workshop facilitates diverse Chain assembling with mid-ring crimping measures and final fusion welding (Final assembly). While the third warehouse is where the quality control is exercised (QC of Baobab) as well as being the final storage facility of 400 square meters for the final products that are ready to be distributed to our valued clients.
Superior Local Quality
Baobab can manufacture and supply any Chain size to meet and tyre size required. Our steel is proudly sourced from local suppliers based in South Africa. To ensure your clients only receive the best, our Chains are manufactured under the required quality specifications of Germany’s quality TUV while also adhering to South Africa’s required quality control of ISO 9001 and safety measures of OSH 4001, OSH 4002.
